Professional Development Fund Guidelines:

The Inter-Professional Council (IPC) is the representative body for professional students at the Ohio State University. Our organization is committed to the development of professional students and their programs. Funds are available for professional students engaged in unique activities, which encourage personal development and improve the professional colleges. These funds, in the amount of $15,000, were made possible through an endowment for IPC though the Office of Academic Affairs (Provost). An additional $5,000 has been allocated by the Deans of each professional college for distribution among its own students’ applications. All professional students in the IPC colleges and professional student organizations are invited to apply for the Professional Student Development Fund.

Award Guidelines for Individuals and Groups:

  1. Online Applications and all accompanying paperwork (AP Compliance (W-9) form, essay, receipts, etc.) must be received to the IPC office in room 117C of the Ohio Union via postal mail or by personal delivery, 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. Faxed applications will not be accepted. NO OTHER METHODS OF DELIVERY WILL BE ACCEPTED. Deadline for submission of applications for SP08 is April 28 at 11:59PM.
  2. IPC will notify the award winners within 30 days each application deadline using the e-mail provided in the application. Checks will be mailed to the address listed on the application 2-6 weeks after award notification.
  3. An individual or group (5 or more people attending the same function) is eligible for one award per project per academic year with a maximum of two fundable awards per academic year. Please submit only one application per project. Applications can be made for reimbursement of activities that took place during current academic year. The academic year is considered to have begun with Summer Quarter 2007 and ends with Spring Quarter 2008. Spring applications can be for activities that occurred during the summer. However, those awarded funding cannot reapply for funds for that event/activity in the fall. Applications must clearly itemize all expenses incurred per the form provided. Food and entertainment expenses are not fundable and should not be included.
  4. Group applications should name all participants who will benefit from the funds if the funding does not benefit the entire organization. If the money will not be deposited into a student organization account, all students receiving money must fill out individual W-9 forms. Student organizations must follow the rules stated by the Ohio Union, http://ohiounion.osu.edu/studentorgs/orgs.asp.
  5. Sponsored group events should be applicable and open to all students. Please include the IPC Logo on any event advertising and make appropriate acknowledgment of the source of funding at all events. Please link related web pages to the IPC Web Page.
  6. All sources of other funding should be itemized: both anticipated and received money. If an individual is receiving class credit for their work or is on payroll, they are considered ineligible for funding.
  7. An academic advisor or organization advisor must sign the application verifying the merit of the application.
  8. IPC will be looking for references to personal development, professional development, academic merit, and/or benefit to the university in the application essay. Please consider these areas as you complete your application and essay. It should be no longer than one page in length, double-spaced with 12 pt. font.
  9. If multiple applications are received from individuals for the same purpose (i.e. attending the same conference, going on the same trip) the application will automatically be converted from an individual to a group application and funding will be up to the head of the organization to divide amongst its members.
  10. Due to the competitive nature of these funds, no application is guaranteed funding, and no application is guaranteed to receive the full amount requested.
  11. If an individual or group is unable for whatever reason to use the award given for the said purpose in the application, the funding should be returned to IPC with a letter of explanation. If an individual uses the award for another purpose than stated without contacting IPC for permission, that individual will have 1 quarter to return money in the amount of the award or that individual will be considered un-fundable for further PDF/discretionary money.
  12. All decisions made by IPC are final. Questions can be directed to the Office of the Inter-Professional Council at 292-9622 or to ipcouncil@osu.edu.
