IPC 2007-08 Discretionary Funding Guidelines:
These guidelines are in place for assistance in distributing IPC discretionary funds. They
do not have any bearing on the professional development fund allocation.
- All discretionary funding requests that are made by professional students must be voted on by IPC Senate. Discretionary funds are separate from Professional Development funds are intended for students and student organizations who are not eligible for PDF funding.
- Groups requesting funding must submit the application form which can be found at www.ipc.osu.edu or a copy can be requested by emailing ipcouncil@osu.edu. This application must be submitted at least 1week prior to the Senate or General Body Meeting that is 30 days before the event, in order to insure time for Senate to vote on the request and for the funding to be processed. On the application, groups must submit a breakdown of specific costs and a disclosure of all sources of funding.
- Group funding will be limited to $500 per group per event maximum.
- Following the event, groups that receive funding must either submit a written document with copies of receipts that describes the event, who participated, etc. Groups may choose alternatively to attend an IPC meeting and speak regarding the event. If a group that receives money fails to do so, it will be ineligible for IPC funding the following year.
- The Senate will vote on funding requests based on the following eligibility criteria:
- Is the group a registered university student organization? If not, are they eligible to be? Student groups who are eligible for registering and receiving CSA operating and programming funds will be directed to do so prior to requesting any funding from IPC.
- If the organization is registered with the university:
- Has the organization applied for CSA funding?
- If not, why? If they are eligible, the group should be directed to seek this funding prior to requesting any IPC funding.
- If so, did the group receive funding?
- If not, it is important to find out why they didn't and for Senate to then decide if they consider the program something that should receive IPC money.
- If so, the amount of money received should be noted. In this case, particularly when a group has received the maximum amount of CSA funding allowed for the year, a 2/3 majority vote will be necessary from the Senate in order to approve IPC funding!!
- For individuals/groups that are NOT registered organizations, the purpose and plan of the event will be considered primarily. Various types of programs, student initiatives and efforts will be considered.
